Nokota Horse Play Days
April 4, 2004 & April 11, 2004
A group of Nokota Horse Owners and supporters gathered together at the Rockin’ Bar H in Arlington, Washington for what we now call our Nokota Horse Play Days. All Nokota Horse owners are welcome to bring their horses in addition to Nokota Horse supporters who can bring their own horse or use one of our Nokotas. Spectators are also welcome. The arena is set up with barrels, poles, jumps, cones, and several other items to play with your horses. Dale is available for assistance with training and makes his rounds to all of the horses and their owners or riders.
We had quite a turn out over the two weekends with some attending both days. Alan & Julianne Cain brought Peace Pipe, a Traditional Nokota Stallion, and April, a Nokota mare. They introduced April to Rick & Diane Fletcher who have now purchased her from the Cain’s and are the newest members of the Pacific Northwest Nokota Horse Association! The Fletcher’s are also anxiously awaiting the arrival of a Rockin’ Bar H 2005 foal from Dog Soldier, a Traditional Nokota Stallion, and Spirit, one of our Nokota mares. Sandy Brodahl and Brie Brodahl also attended. Brie owns a Nokota gelding, Shorty, but he was unable to come so she spent the days playing with Glorey, one of our Nokota mares. Dianna Miller and Davida Miller took turns playing with Rumba, one of our Nokota geldings, and with Bandito, one of our Miniature horses. Fred & Cindy Calahan brought their Nokota gelding, Dakota, and Cindy’s daughter, Jessica brought her Morgan gelding, Dawson. And, of course Dale brought out Chief to play along with Holly and her Nokota gelding, Rebel.
Everyone had a great time working on the ground and riding their horses. Dale held some training sessions with Peace Pipe, April, Dakota, & Dawson which included the Parelli Seven Games, riding, and trailer loading. Some of our training clients attended during these sessions as well.
Throughout the day we discussed Team Nokota! with everyone. This generated a lot of excitement and ideas bouncing around. We are all looking forward to embarking on this new journey with our fellow Nokota Horse owners throughout the country and creating awareness of the wonderful and awesome Nokota Horse!
