The population of Nokota horse owners is growing in the Northwest. On August 3rd, 2003, the Rockin’ Bar H held their 4rd Annual Nokota Horse Open House. We had record attendance during the 4 hour event. Highlights of the day were the 2 free style liberty performances Dale did with Chief. In between Dale held a training demonstration with one of the Cain's fillies, Shadow Dancer, that was sold by the end of the day.

The Pacific Northwest Nokota Horse Association held it's 2nd meeting prior to the Open House. The day was filled with members getting re-acquainted and several picture taking moments. The goal of this meeting was to come together as an organized group and develop a sense of ‘family’ and dedication to these wonderful horses. It was a another big step in realizing a mission the Offermanns have had for a very long time. That is a mission to promote and educate the horse community about these rare and beautiful mustangs. As the population of Nokotas climbs in the Northwest, so will awareness. It is the goal of the Pacific Northwest Nokota Horse Association to create opportunities for ownership of this breed. Both the Offermanns and the Cains are actively working on breeding programs and importation of the traditional Nokota into the Northwest.

The Pacific Northwest Nokota Horse Association’s next meeting will be July 17, 2004. Members and non-members alike will be welcome to attend. Subjects on the agenda will include available horses and addressing how we can continue to promote this historical, rare breed. If you would like to attend contact Holly Offermann at 360-435-5222 or rockinbarh.nokotas@verizon.net.
